The Pittsburgh Steelers look to get younger in this mock draft
The Pittsburgh Steelers remain one of the most polarizing but talented teams in the NFL for the 2020 football season. The Steelers started the season 11-0 before dropping the last three games, including a poor effort this past Monday night against the rival Bengals.
Regardless of their recent troubles, Pittsburgh still possesses one of the most talented overall rosters in the league. However, the team has some difficult decisions to make at the quarterback and wide receiver positions with the eventual retirement of Ben Roethlisberger and the decline of star JuJu Smith Schuster in 2020.
They could decide to move forward from both sooner than later and may use the 2021 NFL Draft to build a new future for this proud NFL franchise. Below, take a look at my new 7-round projections for the Steelers in this 2021 NFL Mock Draft.

Round 1, Pick 28: Alex Leatherwood, OT Alabama
The Steelers have struggled mightily on offense this season with consistency and effectiveness, especially from the offensive line. This unit has taken a huge step backward this season. The team has maintained a decent passing game, but the rushing offense has been extremely inept.
Therefore, Pittsburgh opts to make some vast improvements upfront and grab the star Alabama offensive tackle, Alex Leatherwood. The former top recruit has been a steady presence for the Crimson Tide on both right and left tackle. He is a mauler in the run game and will start right away in the Steel City. If the team decides to add to the offensive side, a weapon like Penn State’s Pat Freiermuth makes a ton of sense here as well.
