Washington’s Rivera Sees Sproles 2.0 In RB Jarrett Patterson – Sports Illustrated

Washington’s Rivera Sees Sproles 2.0 In RB Jarrett Patterson – Sports Illustrated

How does one use Jarrett Patterson? That will be a question Scott Turner is about to find out.  The 5-foot-7 undrafted running back from Buffalo will have higher expectations than most undrafted players. The Washington Football Team only signed him following the 2021 NFL Draft last month.   When looking at his tape for the Bison, one won't see an undersized scat back, but rather a player with home run speed who just so happens to be small. It's what WFT's Ron Rivera sees when watching the film, not allowing the size to determine his role.  “I was just going to mention a specific player, Darren Sproles," coach Rivera said to the media on Friday. “I had an opportunity to be with Darren in San Diego, and that’s who this man reminds me of.” READ MORE: Washington Football Team Signs ...

Why the Yankees may bench Covid tests – Politico

With help from Dan Goldberg and Tyler Weyant EIGHT MEN OUT — The New York Yankees confirmed eight cases of Covid this week, with shortstop Gleyber Torres being the first player sidelined by the positive result. All eight people who tested positive were vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson’s single-shot vaccine. Only one player showed symptoms, while the rest were asymptomatic. Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine, talked with Nightly about why this may have happened and what it means for the future of Covid testing. This conversation has been edited. A vaccination sign on the concourse before a game at Yankee Stadium in New York City. | Getty Images Eight breakthrough infections seems like a lot ...

New York Giants Kadarius Toney does drill shoeless due to wrong size cleats – ESPN

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants first-round pick Kadarius Toney's opening practice with the team did not go exactly as planned. That was evident when he was seen running an individual wide receiver drill Friday without a cleat. Shoeless KT was born out of necessity because of what he termed the "wrong size" cleats. Toney was seen fiddling with his right cleat early during Friday's rookie minicamp practice. At different points during the workout he changed cleats, added socks, changed socks, worked with the equipment staff and even the athletic training staff. He even kneeled off to the side and looked downright uncomfortable at times. It's fair to say he didn't start out on the right foot. Instead, he started out barefoot. Giants rookie Kadarius Toney went shoeless for a drill ...

Seahawks looking at new role for Darrell Taylor in Year 2 – seattlepi.com

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — After the recovery from a leg surgery relegated Darrell Taylor to a spectator's role for his entire rookie season, the Seattle Seahawks are trying a different approach heading into his second year. As in a different position. Taylor was drafted to be a pass rushing option off the edge, but now Seattle is taking time to see how he may fit in as a strongside linebacker playing on the edge. It’s a position of need for Seattle with veteran K.J. Wright currently unsigned as a free agent, and it appears the Seahawks are going to give Taylor a chance to earn the job. “We’re double-teaching him and he’s just such a good-looking athlete, he looks like he can do whatever you need him to do,” coach Pete Carroll said. “We have no real restriction...

Silverstein: Caught in middle of Aaron Rodgers dispute, Matt LaFleur has a decision to make – Packers News

GREEN BAY - Under normal circumstances, Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur would have one of the best jobs in the NFL this time of year. With just about everybody back on offense from a 13-3 team that went to the NFC championship game, an MVP quarterback entering his third season running the offense, new defensive and special teams coordinators on board and a nine-man rookie class of mostly Power 5 conference players, the potential for success in 2021 would seem boundless. But there is nothing normal about this offseason for LaFleur. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ estrangement from the organization has put LaFleur in a limbo not of his own making and certainly not deserving of a guy who is 28-8 in his first two seasons as a head coach. As best as anyone can tell, Rodgers’ beef is with gen...
